A new year, a fresh start, a renewed focus… heck a time to sleep in and relax.  Whatever your outlook today (or any day of the year), you can turn to ThurstonTalk.com for positive stories about the community.  We love sharing the good things happening to people, businesses and organizations around Thurston County.  And, we welcome story ideas from our readers.  Simply drop us a note at submit@thurstontalk.com and we’ll see if your story idea fits into our publishing calendar.

Here’s what is going on around Olympia this weekend.

  • Be thrifty and head over to the Hands On Children’s Museum for Free Friday Night.  Activities begin at 5:00 p.m.
  • Be active and start a training program for the Capital City Marathon.  Program kicks off on Saturday morning.
  • Be conscious and learn how to remove toxins from your personal care products at the WET Science Center on Saturday.
  • Be informed and take a guided walking tour at Wolf Haven on Saturday or Sunday.
  • Be entertained at Harlequin.  Maria Newman is in town, on Saturday night, to add music to a silent film.  Tickets can be found here.
