Olympia – if you haven’t checked the calendar, there are only two summer weekends remaining before school starts.  It’s startling how quickly the summer has breezed by.  If there is anything left on your “outdoor fun” to-do list, then now is the time to check it off.  We have tons of ideas here as well as going through our bucket list of Top 10 Things To Do Around Olympia.

Now, here’s what is fun around town this weekend.

  • Play at Sand in the City all weekend.  Enjoy free activities sponsored by the Hands On Children’s Museum as well as huge sand boxes to play in.
    • Sand in the City Hours:
      • Friday – 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
      • Saturday – 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
      • Sunday – 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Go hungry to the Chehalis Garlic Fest.  Traditional fair food coupled vendors, artisans, and musicians complete the event happening all weekend.
  • Start the weekend with an outdoor movie at Tumwater Valley Golf Course or the Washington State Capital Museum on Friday night.
  • Run a 5k on Saturday to benefit the Thurston County Humane Society.  More information on Run Like A Dog can be found here.
  • Gobble up tasty blueberry pie at the Blueberry Bash on Steamboat Island.
  • Visit a new park or beach.
  • Treat your sweetie to an awesome date night.
  • Rent a kayak or a paddleboard and explore the South Puget Sound waters.
  • Try a new hike with your kids and dogs.
