Westport Winery Garden Resort was among ten businesses honored at the Association of Washington Business’ annual Evening of Excellence awards ceremony on Thursday, November 16, 2023. The event, sponsored by Banner Bank, was held at Seattle’s Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Seven Washington Excellence Awards and three Manufacturing Excellence Awards were presented.
Westport Winery Garden Resort received the Excellence in Family-Owned Business Award. This is given to a family-owned business that is setting the standard for excellence and success by growing the business while serving their communities and paying close attention to the personal touch in customer service.
Westport Winery Garden Resort is owned and operated by the Roberts family, including Blain, Kim and daughter Carrie. The business was named 2022 Washington Winery of the Year and has earned more than 700 medals in international wine competitions.
From the podium, Kim Roberts said, “We are so honored to receive this award. Thank you to the Association and to our team. While Grays Harbor may not be the most prosperous county in the state, it is the most beautiful. Please come and visit us.”
“Washington is fortunate to be home to so many innovative and dedicated employers,” said AWB President Kris Johnson. “They power our economy each and every day, strengthening our communities and investing in the future. It’s our privilege to get together once a year to highlight their accomplishments and celebrate what they do for our state.”
Formed in 1904, the Association of Washington Business is Washington’s oldest and largest statewide business association and includes nearly 7,000 members representing 700,000 employees. AWB serves as both the state’s chamber of commerce and the manufacturing and technology association. While its membership includes major employers like Boeing and Microsoft, 92% of AWB members employ fewer than 100 people.
