The City of Lacey (City) is accepting Lacey Youth Council (LYC) applications from 2024-25 sophomores, juniors, and seniors who attend North Thurston Public Schools, private schools in Lacey, or are home-schooled in the Lacey area. The application period is open through Sunday, June 30.

Established in 2019, the LYC serves as an advisory board to the City Council. It was created to encourage Lacey’s youth to become future leaders by engaging them in community activities and providing leadership opportunities.

The LYC meets twice a month during the school year, including a monthly, in-person report to the City Council. This provides LYC members an opportunity to:

  • Learn about local government.
  • Provide feedback to the City on a variety of topics.
  • Participate in community projects.
  • Earn 30 or more hours of community service or a stipend of $50 per meeting, up to $500 per year.

To learn more about the LYC and apply, visit the City of Lacey website.
