alley oop gymnastics Without a doubt, Procession of the Species brings the greatest number of people to downtown Olympia in a single day.  The uber-popular, family friendly event showcases the creative spirit of Olympia.  Beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Procession participants will weave through the streets of downtown Olympia.  Elaborate costumes and detailed floats will swarm past.  Void of any motorized vehicle, words, or live animals, Procession is an opportunity for residents to honor the Earth.  What will your favorite depiction of a living species be this year?

Key event times for Spring Arts Walk and Procession of the Species:

  • Spring Arts Walk begins in downtown Olympia on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and continues through Saturday afternoon.  Download a map or mobile app here.
  • Luminary Procession roams the streets of Olympia at 9:30 p.m. on Friday evening.
  • Dragon Boats flow through the waterways on Saturday morning.  The ideal viewing spot is at Port Plaza.
  • Procession of the Species begins at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.   The Procession route map can be found here.
