Luminary Procession Weaves Through Downtown Olympia

Procession of the Species begins the weekend with a beautiful Luminary Procession.  Luminaries are designed and created in the Procession of the Species art studios. Participants use reed-like canes and paper with white glue as the bonding material.  It’s estimated that each luminary takes 10 – 20 hours to create.

The magical moment of illumination happened in downtown Olympia on Friday, April 26.  The late night gathering followed the Procession’s three rules of no written words, motorized vehicles or live pets.
