It’s two days away – the summer time holiday that kids (of all ages) look forward to. Showing up to watch a fireworks extravaganza. Grilling up some burgers to feed a crowd. Gathering together to celebrate our independence. Lighting fireworks to entertain the family and neighbors. Whatever your plans, ThurstonTalk’s event calendar has all the scheduled festivities ready for your crew.
Fireworks Shows
Three major fireworks shows are planned for this week. Show up at dusk to get the best seat for fireworks viewing.
- Boston Harbor Marina – July 3 at 10:00 pm (see last night’s photos here)
- Lacey’s William A Bush Park – July 3 at 10:15 pm (see last night’s photos here)
- Tumwater Valley Golf Course – July 4 at 10:15 pm

Tumwater Parade and Weekend Activities
Start the celebration on July 3 by attending a free outdoor concert at Huntamer Park on July 3 at noon. The I Corps Army Band, based out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord performs music that will make you want to stand up and cheer for the USA.
The Tumwater 4th of July parade steps off at 11:00 am. The best viewing spot is at Tumwater City Hall where you can hear the announcers talk about each of the 100+ parade entries. Participate in the annual tradition, in its 26th year.
Prep for the Tumwater fireworks at the Tumwater Artesian Festival. The event, held at Tumwater Valley Golf Course, is a family-friendly evening with music, food vendors, and a drop-in from Skydive Kapowsin.
Mark the calendar for the South Sound BBQ Festival. Head over to Huntamer Park on Saturday to taste delicious BBQ or try your hand at the wing eating contest.
