Join the SPSCC Music Department for Two Spring Concerts

May 2, 2022 – OLYMPIA, Wash., The South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) Music Department is excited to present two concerts featuring SPSCC music students this June at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts Main Stage: Back to Bach and Songs of Home.

In Back to Bach, the SPSCC Choirs combine forces to perform Bach Cantata BWV 106, “Actus Tragicus” with chamber orchestra and soloists on June 10 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will also feature Dr. John Guarente (conductor), Brianna Kramer (contralto), Brendan Tuohy (tenor), Charles Robert Stephens (baritone), and Dr. Lorna Eder (accompanist).

On June 11 at 7:30 p.m., the SPSCC Jazz Band and Symphony Orchestra will perform Songs of Home alongside SPSCC’s Executive Diversity Officer Parfait Bassalé. Works by Denver Darling, James DeHart, Milton Gable, George Gershwin, Vaughn Horton, John Lewis, Florence Price, Austin Schlichting, and Mark Thome will be featured.

Tickets for both concerts can be purchased online at washingtoncenter.org, by calling 360-753-8586, or in person at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts box office. General admission tickets are $15 and $10 for seniors, students, and military with ID.
