On Saturday, March 31, Olympia’s 222 Market welcomes the addition of local family owned Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen, home of delicious Central Mexican meals and tortas.  Augustin and Lupe Garcia will introduce their restaurant as part of the thriving downtown Olympia food scene in the historic 222 Market.  Along with delicious food and drink the Grand Opening will also feature music by local DJ Kulraul.

Designed and built by local architecture firm Artisans Group, Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen embraces the 222 Market’s mix of functional and casually elegant community space – it’s a space with historical authenticity, modern pop, and an homage to community roots.

Benches crafted from reclaimed wood and built by local company Windfall Lumber, a Tequila and Mezcal back bar created from upcycled furniture, a repurposed countertop and an amazing mural painted by local artist Michael Villela and his father, Fernando Villela, all work together to provide a unique Olympia space for enjoying traditional Central Mexican fare.

As Food and Wine Magazine recently pointed out, Olympia’s cuisine scene is on the rise, and Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen is a delicious addition to our burgeoning city’s core.

Dos Hermanos opened their first mobile kitchen in 2013 as one of the first food trucks on Joint Base Lewis McChord.  A veteran of the U.S. Army, Augustin realized that the lack of tasty lunch options on base was an opportunity worth exploring.  He and Lupe visited his sister who operates a successful food truck in Ontario, Oregon, and worked with her to develop the best of their family recipes.  After returning to Washington, the two (along with Augustin’s brother) opened the first Dos Hermanos food truck on JBLM where they successfully operated until 2017.  With their ability to move they’ve served fresh Tortas and Tacos from Lacey to Officer parties, from Olympia to JBLM – and many spots in between. Over the years Dos Hermanos has built up a loyal local following.

Of their newest and most permanent location Lupe says, “we’re just really looking forward to opening and being part of this Market.”  Augustin adds, “it’s exciting to be part of, and we’re also excited to introduce our fans to the 222 Market and downtown Olympia.”

Thanks to Dos Hermanos Mexican Kitchen, it won’t be just the water keeping people coming back to Olympia, it’ll be the tortas too. Hours are 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Sundays, and they’re closed on Mondays.
