After winning the 4A state title last year, the Olympia High School girls volleyball team appeared prime for a repeat after making the state semi-finals following their 3-0 victory over Union High School in the second round at St. Martins University Friday night.  However, the Bears ran into a talented and senior-laden Mead High School team, which defeated Oly 3-0 before falling themselves to Bellarmine Prep in the final game.

Olympia then was defeated 3-1 by Jackson High School in the third place game.  However, making the final four in the state tournament following the graduation of many players from last year’s championship team is impressive, and the Bears have established themselves as one of the premier programs in the state.
