This is the annual Principal’s Emergency Checkbook Fund breakfast that raises funds to allow principals in every school within the Olympia School District school to provide immediate resources for principals to assist students and families in Olympia with needs that arise. Examples of uses for the checkbook fund include heating bills, groceries, car repairs, eyeglasses, shoes and coats, testing fees, and caps and gowns for graduates. During the 2016-2017 school year over $50,000 was spent on students and families by principals using this fund to assist, when no other resource was available. Over five schools in the Olympia School District depleted their funds and requested more resources from the Olympia School District Education Foundation. Due to the success of the breakfast event, the foundation was able to replenish all five schools’ accounts. Everyone is invited to join the breakfast – make sure to bring a Kleenex as the testimonials given by our amazing principals are heartfelt and emotional. Joe Ingoglia of the National Boys & Girls Club will be our keynote speaker and Marshall Middle School Principal Condee Wood will be our emcee for this meaningful and important event.
