Join guest artists Jan and Tovas Porvas of Tora’dan for a free 1.5 hour workshop to learn about and enjoy the Iranian Daf. Daf is a Middle Eastern frame drum musical instrument in use for thousands of years, both for popular and classical music in South and Central Asia as well as the Middle East and beyond. Students in this workshop will learn about the rich Daf musical tradition, enjoy performances of several Turkish-language songs, and have a chance to try playing the Daf themselves. This is a fun opportunity to engage with cultural traditions while enjoying views of Tolmie State Park! For inquires, please contact Arbutus Folk School.
