Harlequin Productions, has staged its first annual telling of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic, “A Christmas Carol,” and crowds are delighted to return to the theater.

The company’s tagline, “Real. Live. Theater.” sums up their return from an 20-month pandemic closure, and while they have had great successes with their recent fall repertory series, they are hoping that families return to the State Theater in downtown for this timeless classic.

“We are the only professional theater company between Seattle and Portland,” said artistic Director Aaron Lamb, “and our cast is mainly from the South Sound area. We have four local children in this production, two boys trading nights as Tiny Tim and other characters, and two girls doing the same as Young Fan, and other characters. The cast, the set, the lighting, the special effects – all are absolutely outstanding.” He added, “Downtown is much cleaner and safer at night lately, and we hope people will come down, support our local restaurants and bars, and make a night of their visit to Harlequin.”

At only seventy minutes in length, it is perfect for even the most fidgety members of the Instagram generation, so grandparents or parents can take the entire family, and give the gift of theatre while supporting an important local arts organization.

“We have tickets to every show available.” reports Managing Director, Hap Clemons, “For those who can support the theater by purchasing them at full price, it is a huge help. But every night at 7:00 pm remaining seats go half price, and those 18 and under pay just $5.00 per ticket, so everyone can have a special night of theater this holiday season.”

Pandemic protocols are in place, and despite the new high-filtration HVAC system, both proof vaccination for those over the age of 12 and masks are required.
