Published for Friday, September 20

This weekend we will officially usher in fall.  Sunday, September 22 is the astronomical marker for the start of the fall season which will continue until Friday, December 20.  While we have already had a glimpse of autumn-like weather with some cool, crisp days, we have also had some extra summer days gracing our calendar.  Whether you have autumn activities on the calendar (apple pressing, fall leaf journaling) or more traditional weekend activities (football anyone?), ThurstonTalk’s event calendar keeps your schedule full.

  • Dig razor clams.  The first razor clam dig of the season is at evening low tides this weekend.  Find more information here.
  • Do the Puyallup!  The (newly renamed) Washington State Fair completes its run this weekend.
  • Rock out to Glee star Derik Nelson. The local grad will be performing at Capital High School on Friday night and Black Hills High School on Sunday evening.  Show time information can be found here.
  • Stay healthy with free back-to-school immunizations at Group Health on Saturday.
  • Admire cool rides at the Summer’s End Car Show at Huntamer Park on Saturday beginning at 10am.
  • Enjoy authentic Mexican food while supporting domestic violence survivors.  Mijas serves dinner every third Saturday.
  • Locate geocaches during the Washington State Park and Timberland Library’s GeoChallenge.  The event continues through the end of September.
  • Peek at the salmon migrating through downtown Olympia.
  • Enjoy fresh autumn produce at the Olympia Farmers Market.
