Turning Pointe Domestic Violence Services will hold their third annual Power of the Purse event on Friday, October 9th, at the Little Creek Casino Event Center from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M.
A silent auction is the main event for Power of the Purse as well as a live auction. Both auctions will feature purses, scarves and other items from local boutiques, hair salons and small businesses around the area. All proceeds will benefit Turning Pointe.
The mission of Turning Pointe Domestic Violence Services is to “End domestic & sexual violence through advocacy & action for social change.”
Turning Pointe has provided shelter and services for victims of domestic violence including women, children, men and family pets since 2000. They opened a staffed, 54-bed shelter in 2008, making it one of the largest domestic violence shelters in the state. Each year over 350 individuals are served at the shelter and from 2009-2014 the shelter offered services to over 2,000 people.
Tickets for the event are being sold for $25 each. This includes entrance to the event, appetizers and a cocktail or other beverage.
