The annual Duck Dash is a beloved tradition put on by the Lacey Rotary and their generous partners and sponsors that help local area youth and charities. Every dollar from raffle ticket sales goes directly to nonprofit organizations, community service and international service projects. Purchase your ducks at one of the ticket sales outlets and then come out to the Thurston County Fairgrounds June 1, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a day of activities, entertainment, shopping and more!

Olympia Federal Savings is a sponsor of this year’s Duck Dash. And many OlyFed employees have been active Lacey Rotary members over the years. “OlyFed is a longtime supporter of Lacey Rotary and their Duck Dash fundraising event,” shares Shea Wahlstrom, digital outreach and communications coordinator for OlyFed. “We believe it’s important to support our local Rotary clubs and the work they do to support our neighbors. Their values are very much aligned with ours with a strong emphasis on service and volunteerism. We are proud to support an event and organization that works to uplift and promote our local community, and improve the health and wellbeing of our neighbors.”

While you don’t need to be present to win, the Duck Dash event on June 1 at the Thurston County Fairgrounds is a great day of fun for the entire family with a carnival-like atmosphere and plenty of things to see, do and eat! Admission is free and so is parking!

“The Duck Dash was designed as a family event,” shares Jordan Doughty, public relations board chair for the Lacey Rotary Club. “Much like any fun fair, there will be vendors, activities for kids, prizes to win from the Duck Dash itself, a 5K fun run, and a car show. There is something for everyone to enjoy.”

Register now for the car show, happening at 11 a.m. and receive two free lunches with your registration fee of just $25. Coffee and pastries will also be provided. It’s limited to just 75 cars, so get registered online today! All makes, models and years are welcome.

At 11:30 a.m. is the Duck Dash 5K Fun Run that the whole family can participate in! Waddle, walk or run around the scenic course filled with surprises. Be sure to deck out in your favorite duck gear! It’s just $35 to run like a duck! More information can be found at the Eventbrite page for the Duck Dash 5K Fun Run.

But the fun is just getting started! At the Duck Dash you will also find a children’s area, live entertainment, food booths with all your favorite fair-type foods, and a vendor area with tons of shopping.

When you need a break, head to the beer and wine garden that will be open 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

At 3 p.m., the Lacey Rotary will hold the kid’s bike giveaway. Then, at 4 p.m., the ducks will be gathered and drawn for the amazing raffle prizes! Winners will be announced online at 8 p.m. and also called.

It’s not just fun and games. The Duck Dash raises some serious cash to help your local charities and nonprofits continue to do good in our area. Every dollar from the ducks pays it forward. “The Duck Dash has supported dozens of projects over the years,” shares Doughty.  “Some of the organizations we have donated to are All Kids Win, the STEP Program, Boys & Girls Club and their Kayla’s Kids Program, North Thurston Education Foundation, and Rotary’s REMBA clean water project.”

The Lacey Rotary is careful about where it sends your dollars and looks at specific things when choosing where to give that Duck Dash cash. Specifically, whether the charity or organization is part of the Thurston County community or what kind of community they create in the place they are located, and how much impact they have on the world and their community.

Flock to the 2024 Duck Dash and pay it forward while having some fun. For more information, including addresses of businesses that are selling duck raffle tickets, visit the Lacey Rotary website.
