Studio West Dance Theatre Presents The Nutty-Cracker!
Olympia, WA – Studio West Dance Theatre is proud to present The Nutty-Cracker , streaming from the comfort of your home beginning at midnight on December 19, 2020.
Recorded during the 2018 run of our beloved Nutcracker production, we have never released a recording of this production to our families or the community. With theatres closed due to COVID and our 2020 Nutcracker production canceled, we felt it was time to share this fun and wacky performance with our friends, families and community. We were able to break from the classic rendition and add playful surprises to make the ballet we all treasure a wild ride.
Mary Cecelia Piper, co-director of SWDT, shares, “ The Nutty-Cracker stays true to the story and choreography that everyone knows and loves, but we get to infuse it with our own sense of humor. You can’t take life too seriously. We can’t give away much, but I will share that our long-time patrons will catch character cameos from each of our previous productions.”

Being a part of Studio West’s genius Nutty Nutcracker was a breath of fresh air, it shook up the holiday tradition.” recalls Grant.

Studio West Dance Academy believes performing is a vital element for an aspiring dancer’s development. In January of 2011, Studio West Dance Theatre (SWDT) was established to create a performance division for our dance academy. SWDT’s mission is to foster a ballet company that operates with the highest of standards in beauty, artistry, uniqueness, and professionalism.
SWDT presents two full-length ballets a year, participates in dance festivals, and hosts an annual charity gala: Dance to Make a Difference. For the past twelve years, Studio West has supported many philanthropic organizations such as: Family Support Center of South Sound, Homes First, Boys & Girls Club, Project Medishare, Mercy Corps, Homeless Backpacks, SafePlace, Northwest Harvest, and The Hands-On Children’s Museum. Through dance, Studio West Dance Theatre is proud to make a difference in our community.
