The City of Lacey and Senior Services for South Sound will host a Naming Ceremony for the Virgil S. Clarkson Senior Center (formerly named the Lacey Senior Center) at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2015. The public is welcome to attend. The ceremony will last approximately 30 minutes, with refreshments following. The Senior Center is located at 6757 Pacific Avenue SE within Woodland Creek Community Park in Lacey.

Virgil Clarkson has served on the Lacey City Council since July of 1998, including three terms as mayor and two as deputy mayor. Councilmember Clarkson has insured that Lacey maintain adequate resources for senior services and was instrumental in securing funds for construction in 2003 and 2011 for expansion of the Lacey Senior Center. Mr. Clarkson was appointed by Governor Gregoire in 2006 to the Washington State Council on Aging serving two consecutive three-year-terms, has served on the Thurston County Fair Board for 25 years, and has been involved with many other community organizations and projects throughout the years.
