To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Null Set Coffee House.   It was the first “coffee house” on the west coast, north of California, and it was right here in Olympia. Founded in the mid-60’s by Pete and Pat Holm, and Bob and Bonnie Gillis, it was replete with beatniks, hippies, chessboard tables, incense and other smoke, folk and blues musicians. Learn more about Null Set in this full ThurstonTalk article.

Pat Holm has written a memoir of the coffee house and Mike Dumovich, a blues musician who played there, made a memorial CD, called the Null Set Remembered.  A release celebration will be held at the Farmer’s Market on August 14, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Music played by musicians who started in 1964 and played at the Null Set and are still playing publicly. The line up is: Mike Dumovich on 12 String guitar from Arlington; The Blazer Trio, Burt Meyer, Dusty Rhodes and Alley; Dan McKinistry, Mudcat; Dusty Rhodes; John Browne from Vashon; Davey Coffin and Paul Bassett from Portland; The P.H.
