Walking into Sweet Magnolia Co & Coffee House in Tumwater will make you feel as though you were transported to a southern shop that even Joanna Gaines would approve of. You are greeted by cheerful workers as your eyes take in the elegantly placed décor and women-created art and gifts. Of course, you are there for a pick-me-up and they have many options, from bubble tea and coffee to sweet and savory bites. She even sells alcohol, so no matter what you are in the mood for, you are sure to leave satisfied.
Born-and-Raised Olympia Woman Opens Coffee Shop in Tumwater
Brittany Lichtblau, born and raised in Olympia, has always wanted a coffee shop. “It has been a dream of mine for years and for many reasons,” she says. “Creative freedom; setting my own schedule; creating an atmosphere for people to have a place to visit with friends or get work done outside their home; providing a home front for other local vendors; and providing a kind environment for my employees.”
Her dream became a reality when Sweet Magnolia Co & Coffee House opened on January 1, 2022. The name was inspired by her travels and love of nature.
Brittany uses Dancing Goats Coffee beans, so you know her coffee is good. But she didn’t stop at just coffee. “I love to step outside the typical look and vibe of coffee shops and offer some items that you don’t normally see,” she explains. “Bubble tea, ice cream, beer and wine are some things we offer at the shop along with unique handmade local vendors items.”
You’ll find sugar-free chai, matcha, Lotus energy drinks, Italian sodas, bubble tea, smoothies and more at Sweet Magnolia. You can choose between regular espresso and white coffee for your drinks – if you like sweet-tasting drinks and haven’t tried white coffee, do it! She has milk alternatives too.
Not sure what to order? Brittany says customer favorites include flavored lattes, Americanos and Lotus and Redbull energy drinks. “We provide weekly drink specials as well, so if someone isn’t quite sure what to order or wants to try something new, we got you,” she adds.
Come hungry to Sweet Magnolia Coffee House, because she has breakfast and deli sandwiches, pastries, ice cream and more. Ever had affogato, ice cream smothered in coffee? It’s a must! “We make some of our food items such as our breakfast sandwiches and some of our items are wholesale products to provide snack options,” Brittany adds. They have gluten-free snack bars too
Sweet Magnolia Coffee House Supports Local Entrepreneurs
A big part of business for Brittany is supporting other women in business. “I love supporting and rooting for all my other local women in business because it adds heart to my shop,” Brittany says. “Most of these women are out at pop-up shops and events killing it and making a name for themselves and I love to help provide a space where their customers can always find their product.”
Depending on the day, you can find all sorts of things for your home or a gift for someone special at Sweet Magnolia Co & Coffee House. Look for handmade soaps, candles, macrame and jewelry. Flower bouquets, books, succulents and sweatshirts can also be found. Even car air fresheners!
Brittany loves her work and works hard to make her customers feel the love as soon as they walk in the door. “I can say that this is the first time in my life that I love going to work,” she says. “My customers are the best. My Sweet Magnolia girls are the best. The vibes of the shop are unique and you can feel it when you walk in the door.”
