Parents looking for an alternative K-5 program within the Olympia School District are invited to attend an Enrollment Information Night at Lincoln Options Elementary School. Families in the Lincoln Service Area and siblings of currently enrolled and alumni students, who are entering at kindergarten level, are guaranteed access to the Options Program at Lincoln School. We also welcome new families in the Olympia School District residing outside the Lincoln Service Area who are interested in an alternative program. A lottery, which takes place in the spring, determines the priority for enrolling new students. Attendance at a Lincoln Information Night is recommended for all potential new families as it provides important information about the Options program; and is required for out of service area students. The lottery is a way to ensure that all families outside the Lincoln service area have an equal chance of admittance.

Enrollment Information Nights will be held from 6 – 8 p.m., February 22 and March 2, in the school cafeteria, 213 21st Ave SE, Olympia. Childcare is provided by donation.

At the informational meeting, parents will hear first-hand from teachers about what makes Lincoln Options unique. They will learn more about the school program, philosophy, parent involvement, and the lottery process itself.

Lincoln Options offers a developmental, project based curriculum for students grades K-5 in multi-age classrooms where social, emotional, and academic growth are equally valued. Cooperation, social justice, and sustainability are taught and practiced. Typically, children stay with the same teacher for two years in order to help learning and strengthen the family-school relationship. Parents also are encouraged to participate in the classroom and governance of the school.

Additionally, the Olympia School District is hosting an informational event for parents and guardians who will have children in kindergarten in the 2017–2018 school year. This event, ‘Learn All About Kindergarten,’ is Saturday, February 11th at 10 a.m. in the Capital High School Theater & Gym. Lincoln Options will be there to answer questions about their kindergarten program.

If you have any further questions please call Mollie & Curt Gavigan at 870-0219. Thank you for your interest in the Options Program.
