July 4th can be a busy day – full of family gatherings, barbecuing, and young ones experiencing sparklers for the first time. If your plans involve camping or a family get-together, it may be hard to fit in an event too. That’s why the City of Lacey celebrates with an incredible, professional fireworks display the day before the Fourth, so you can do it all! Head to Rainier Vista Community Park (Rainier Vista) on July 3, 2024, from 4 to 11 p.m. for the Lacey Fireworks Spectacular, the fun, family-friendly event of the season!
50+ Years of Fireworks, Food, Music, and Fun for the July 4th Holiday
The City of Lacey pulls out all the stops the day before our nation’s birthday for a huge celebration that has been a tradition for residents and visitors alike for over 50 years.
Practice makes perfect, and Lacey definitely has their Fourth of July celebration down. On July 3, you will get to experience fireworks in a completely different way thanks to sponsor Lacey Collision, who provides special 3D firework glasses that make their fireworks show POP more than any other! “Special 3D fireworks glasses make the show really fun to watch as they create a kaleidoscope of colors and lights!” shares Jeannette Sieler, recreation supervisor for Lacey Parks, Culture & Recreation.
Pick up your 3D firework glasses prior to the event at Lacey Collision (1215 Carpenter Road SE, Lacey) or at their booth during the Fireworks Spectacular near the park entrance on 45th Avenue, while supplies last.
Another thing that makes the Lacey fireworks show different is the sound: It’s more than just booms! “The entire show is choreographed to music and while you’re in the park, you can hear the soundtrack. It’s so impactful!” shares Sieler. “We appreciate our sponsors Twin Star Credit Union and South Sound Center!”
City of Lacey July 4 Celebration Family Activities
While the fireworks don’t start until dark – around 10 p.m. – definitely plan on coming early as the party starts at 4 p.m. on July 3 and you do not want to miss all the fun activities!
BrickHouse will rock your socks off with all the best hits from the 1970s starting at 5 p.m. Then at 8 p.m., rock out with the greatest hits from Dua Lipa to No Doubt and Bruno Mars to Michael Jackson with Mr. Pink. You will be dancing on the grass with these groups!
Throughout the evening be amazed by Vuelta La Luna, aerial and cirque performers. “We are excited to have Vuelta La Luna Variety Circus join us with interactive kids’ activities, roaming performers, and three circus shows throughout the event,” shares Sieler.
Kids will have plenty to keep them busy and having fun, including inflatables that kids can enjoy for free. There will also be a balloon artist and special character guests from Emerald Kingdom. Get the finishing touch for your red, white, and blue outfit with a patriotic temporary tattoo.
Hungry? Don’t worry, there will be plenty of food vendors to fill stomachs, from the young to the young at heart! All your favorites will be here including tasty Dole Whip – made internet famous by Disneyland Park! – funnel cakes, tacos, ice cream, Hawaiian barbecue, burgers, hot dogs, egg rolls, pizza, and more.
Where to See Fireworks in Lacey
Remember, fireworks may not be sold or discharged within Lacey city limits, including sparklers! (Find all the information on the fireworks ban on the City of Lacey website.) So, make sure you head out to the City of Lacey’s professional show on July 3!
Bring blankets or camping chairs and get comfy for the show.
Although parking at Rainier Vista is limited, there will be free shuttle buses to and from the Lacey Firework Spectacular from Timberline High School and Lakes and Mountain View elementary schools parking lots. You can also park at Aspire Middle School and walk to the park. Remember to bring a flashlight to find your way back to your car after the show!
