The highly-anticipated Summer Splash! Festival of Fun at the Hands On Children’s Museum runs June through September. Presented by WSECU the special Summer Splash! programming features visiting artists, animal encounters, stage performers, aerialists, and nature play. With a special opportunity every week, you’ll keep your entire family engaged until school starts again.

Presented by MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Health Network, in partnership with the Olympia Fire Department, the Fire Rescue Spectacular takes place on Jefferson Street, between the Hands On Children’s Museum and the LOTT Clean Water Alliance. Thanks to a partnership with Macy’s all event activities on the street are free!

Educational and fun events are offered for free from 10am to 3pm. The street-fair atmosphere lends itself perfectly to kids, allowing them to roam from activity to activity however they wish. Explore Olympia Fire Department emergency vehicles, vintage firetrucks and take the Junior Firefighter Challenge to learn what it takes to be a real-life superhero. Kids can even use a real fire hose with the help of real firefighters!

Smokey the Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog will be on hand to snap selfies and kids can meet emergency responders and firefighters.

Of course, it can’t be truly spectacular without fair food! When those tiny tummies start rumbling, check out the food, including free ice cream, available twice a day at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., while supplies last.

Don’t forget to use your 2-for-1 pass from the Pet Parade to explore inside Hands On Children’s Museum, where the Fire Rescue Spectacular continues with more kids’ activities! Dr. Science will be giving wacky science demonstrations the entire family will enjoy. Kids can learn basic first aid techniques and how to start a safe campfire with the Olympia Mountaineers, along with important fire safety lessons!
