Adapt-A-Toy Hackathon

Sensory Tool House, LLC is partnering with Olympia and North Thurston High
Schools’ robotics teams and Lacey MakerSpace to do a toy adaptation event
ahead of the winter holidays. The aim is to create adapted toys or items for
community members to gift to loved ones that could benefit from the adaptations
(ex: switch buttons, enlarged knobs, added vibration or flashing lights, etc.).

Olympia Orthopaedic Associates has made a generous donation to cover the
expense of the adaptation materials. Community members will simply need to provide the item they want adapted and what type of adaptation.

How it Works:
Provide the item you want adapted
State what adaptation you are hoping for
Drop your item off at Sensory Tool House, LLC starting October 24th
Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 6pm
Adaption take place November 19th and 20th
Pick up your item the following week

The students, with help from Lacey MakerSpace teachers and staff, will do all of the adaptations in a two-day event in November called the Adapt-a-Toy Hackathon.

We are so excited to offer this event to the community and hope it will be well utilized.

All organizations involved in this event are volunteering their time to provide this service to the community.
