Thanks to the hard work of local Boy Scout troops, the residents of Lacey don’t have to worry about disposing of their Christmas trees after the holidays. Now in its sixth year, the Scout’s “Tree Round-Up” service project provides curbside pick-up of trees in Lacey city limits. The trees are taken to the Thurston County Waste and Recovery Center and eventually recycled as compost and wood chips.
This year the Boy Scout pick-up is scheduled for Saturday, January 9. To be eligible for pick-up, Lacey residents must have their trees to the curb by 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. They need to be completely emptied of ornaments, tinsel, nails and stands to facilitate easy chipping.
