Providence Corner Gift Shop inside Providence St. Peter Hospital is a place of many purposes:

  • Patients can access post-surgical kits to help with recovery
  • Lactation equipment can be rented by new moms
  • Visitors can find flowers and gifts to lift the spirits of loved ones
  • Caregivers can find a brief, peaceful respite from their work while purchasing a snack

“All in a day’s volunteer work,” is what you may hear a gift shop volunteer say.

The Volunteer Services Department for Providence Swedish South Puget Sound is looking to expand the volunteer staff in the gift shop. Volunteers are asked to commit to 75 hours by volunteering one day per week for a 3- or 4-hour session. Current available sessions are afternoons on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Volunteer team members meet new people and friends, receive invitations to special events, 5% discount in the cafeteria and free drink every session. Net profits from the Providence Corner Gift Shop go into a Volunteer Foundation Grant Fund which is donated to the hospital to purchase medical equipment. In September 2023, gift shop volunteers granted $90,000 to the hospital to purchase two new cardiology ultrasound machines. In 2018, the surgical department was granted $450,000 for needed equipment such as a cardiac laser, intubation video scope and more.

Volunteer today – help make a positive impact on our community.
