Lacey 3A high schools North Thurston and River Ridge met in a 3A South Sound Conference swim meet Thursday, September 21 at North Thurston High School’s pool with the Ram ladies triumphing 89-78. The teams competed in the traditional swimming events but there was no diving competition.

North Thurston head coach Mary Pilon was delighted with her team’s effort. “We are a growing team with three freshmen and a great senior class of girls that work really hard in practice,” Pilon remarked. “Most of the team has qualified for Districts and we are looking forward to our first away meet and improving meet by meet.” Districts are October 27 – October 28 in Auburn.

River Ridge head coach Nikki Viehweg thought her team worked hard. “We had a lot of fun today and the girls did great,” Viehweg said after the meet. “We have a great team that gets along well and we are just working to drop times every week. We had a smaller team last year so this year we have a bit of a split of some new swimmers and returning swimmers so the scores were more competitive today.”

North Thurston travels to Peninsula, in Gig Harbor, Thurston, September 28 for their first away meet next week. River Ridge takes on Central Kitsap in Bremerton also on the 28th.
