It seems like everything costs more these days, which can make it difficult to plan fun, summer outings the whole family will enjoy. But, have no fear! Starting Tuesday, July 5, Lacey Parks, Culture, & Recreation comes to the rescue with Lacey in Tune, their annual free music, movies, and entertainment series at Huntamer Park. That’s right, come listen to music, see magicians, watch hit movies on a big screen, and more—all free! It’s family-friendly summer fun in Lacey that fits everyone’s budget.

“For over 25 years, Lacey Parks has been offering concerts at Huntamer Park,” shares Jeannette Sieler, recreation supervisor. “We later added children’s entertainment and movies. Now more than ever, we know the value of social gatherings and connecting people to their community. Studies show that building healthy relationships and spending time with family, friends, and others in your community helps improve mental well-being, strengthens relationships, and creates memorable moments.”

Whether you’re looking for inexpensive, family-friendly events in Lacey, or need a fun, date-night idea, Lacey in Tune is the place to be! Happening on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. from July 5 to August 10, Huntamer Park will be filled with fun from a variety of children’s entertainers the whole family will love. Be prepared to laugh with shows like Henrik Bothe, a pro at physical comedy, or Cap’n Arrr, who will have you in stitches as you learn to walk and talk like a pirate! And, even adults will be awed by magic from Louie Foxx, who performed on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”

On Wednesdays, take a break from your busy work day and join us for 12 p.m. Concerts in the Park. This summer’s lineup includes music from around the world that will get you on your feet and dancing. From funk and soul to folk music, and everything in between, you’re sure to find something you like!

Fridays are perfect for families, date night, or a group of friends. The evening starts with music at 7 p.m., followed by movies at dusk on a giant 18-foot by 18-foot screen! This summer’s movies are a range of classic favorites like “Sandlot” and new blockbusters such as “Jungle Cruise.”

“Community events bring people from all walks of life together – no matter their background, gender, or age – and strengthens the bonds between them,” shares Sieler. “Those bonds help improve mental well-being. Add the value of the live music and entertainment – and you create the ultimate human connection.”

“I’m excited for our diverse line up of entertainment. We have some fun bands with roots in Mexico, Ireland, and Latin America, plus a mix of folk, soul, country, swing, and classic rock tunes,” shares Sieler. “On August 5, we have the band Culture-Shock, featuring Latin American music, combined with the popular movie ‘Encanto’ for an immersive night of family fun. We may even have a visit from Mirabel herself!

Hanging out in the park enjoying the music, movies, and entertainment, will surely stimulate your appetite! No worries! Food vendors will be available at each event, or bring your own picnic. Don’t forget your comfy chairs and blankets and get ready to relax and have fun! Sieler says they’ve even had people bring couches to movie nights! Well-mannered dogs on leashes are welcome, as well.
