The City of Lacey is partnering with the Gold Star Memorial Foundation of Lacey (GSMFL) to create a special place of remembrance to visit, honor, and reflect on the sacrifices made by fallen service members and their families. GSMFL will construct a Gold Star Memorial Monument at Civic Plaza in Lacey, 521 Sleater Kinney Road, in 2022, pending necessary funding.
Gold Star Memorial Monuments honor the Gold Star Families and relatives of our men and women who have sacrificed their lives for our freedoms as service members of the United States Military Armed Forces. Gold Star Memorial Monuments are located in all 50 states. In Washington State there are currently Gold Start monuments located in Forks and Walla Walla. GSMFL was founded in 2019. The City of Lacey recently contributed $30,000 to GSMFL from the City’s Public Art Fund to help fund the construction of a Gold Star Memorial Monument in Lacey.
GSMFL invites community members to purchase a personalized, engraved brick or sponsor a Hero Memorial Brick to be permanently placed at the base of the monument. To learn more about the GSMFL or purchase a commemorative brick, visit Gold Star Memorial Foundation website or email GoldStarMemorialLacey@gmail.com.
