Westport Winery earned two Best of Class awards with double gold medals and 97-points each at the Los Angeles Invitational on February 22 and 23, 2022 in Los Angeles, California.

“Courage” Sagrantino is a classic Italian grape that was once near extinction. The judges said it is “very expressive, varietally correct” with the flavors of dried cranberries and charcuterie. This fruit was grown at Inland Desert Vineyard in the Yakima Valley AVA.

A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the American Lung Association. The label was penned by winery co-owner Kim Roberts. The winery suggests you enjoy this wine while listening to “Numb Encore” by Linkin Park and Jay-Z.

Maritime, a semi-sweet Riesling, is from fruit picked at Elephant Mountain Vineyard in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA. The judges said this wine had “classic intense fruit balance” with pear and apple, like sitting in a breezy meadow.

The label features an original watercolor by Camarillo, California, artist Darryl Easter. A portion of the proceeds from this wine benefits the Northwest Carriage Museum in Raymond, Washington. The winery says this is best enjoyed while listening to P!nk perform “Raise Your Glass.”

Smoky Nor’wester, the winery’s most popular red blend, earned a gold medal and 92-points at this competition.
