The Thurston County Public Health and Social Services Treatment Sales Tax (TST) program is seeking proposals for funding for programs that benefit residents who face challenges related to mental health or substance use. A total of $800,000 is available to fund services during 2022 and 2023.
TST is a local funding stream that works alongside federal and state funding to meet mental health and substance use needs in Thurston County. General information about TST can be found on the Thurston County website. Members of the TST Advisory Committee and subject matter experts will review the applications prior to presenting them to the Board of County Commissioners.
The overall goals for TST funding are to:
- Improve the quality of life and access to treatment services for Thurston County residents with behavioral health needs.
- To reduce entry into or deeper involvement in the criminal justice system for youth and adults with behavioral health needs.
Applicants must submit their proposals by 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 3, 2022. The application is available at the Thurston County website. Grant proposal amounts should be no less than $50,000 and no more than $300,000 per year. Funds shall be used solely for the purpose of providing for the operation or delivery of substance use disorder or mental health treatment programs and services and for the operation or delivery of therapeutic court programs and services. “Programs and services” include, but is not limited to, treatment services, case management, transportation, and housing as a component of a coordinated chemical dependency or mental health treatment program or service (RCW 82.14.460).
