“We get a ton of calls where people think they know what they want but they’re not sure,” explains Benjamin John, CEO of Precision Patio Covers. “And they really just want somebody to either have a conversation, or ultimately have somebody come out to the job site and do a site plan walkthrough, go over suggestions and different solutions and what might make sense, what would work well within their specific job site area.”
John says that as a resource to the community, providing accurate and timely information for outdoor improvement projects is important, because each project may have a different timeline or steps to take along the way. And by providing up to date information, including a project’s scope or pricing, clients can decide on an outdoor space that works best for their needs.
“Our purpose really is to first get people the information that you want,” explains John. “There can be a lot of questions regarding home improvement. Depending on the type of project, it can be a one two-day job or it can be kind of a huge undertaking. And when it’s a bigger job, there are a lot of elements to it that you got to really prepare for. There are a lot of questions as far as how it’s going to be approached and the kind of the steps that need to be taken, whether it’s permits, HOA approval, engineering, people have a ton of questions. And so, I spent a good portion of my time on phones getting information out to people.”
As a local business, Precision Patio Covers is also an active member of the South Sound community by participating in trade shows and providing support for local causes and organizations. A lesson passed down from John’s mentor, community involvement has become an important pillar of Precision Patio Covers. Currently, Precision Patio Covers provides sponsorships for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Thurston County and the Thurston County Washington Explorer Search and Rescue Team as a way to give back to the community. “I was taught by my mentor on getting involved with the community,” says John. “Networking and helping out as much as possible. It’s good to establish relationships with your local community.”

From the initial consultation, John ensures proper communication throughout the entire design and construction process, to even after the project’s completion. “Communication is key,” says John. “And that is part of our mission, is to make sure you’re fully aware. Even after job’s finished, we follow up by doing a walkthrough to make sure that they’re happy, there’s no lingering things on the job that we might have missed any questions or concerns, all that can be addressed during a walkthrough.” During construction, the Precision Patio Covers team will also provide comprehensive updates about the project, providing the client an accurate timeline toward a complete outdoor space.

You can move out there, read a book even barbecue anytime you want, you can pretty much utilize this this space and reclaim the space really that hasn’t been utilized.”
