Meet Huntley! Huntley is a 2-year-old, (DOB 12/09/2017), 50-pound, male Border Collie. He is a shy goof that requires a Border Collie savvy home. This smart boy can be a great dog given time, direction, and positive training. He knows some commands if there are treats in it for him. His favorite game in the world is “keep away while jumping at you like you were a sheep,” which means his recall is not fantastic. Huntley wants you to know that while meeting new people is not great, he would like a forever home to call his own. His ideal fit home would have no kids, no dogs, no cats, and if you have other critters, they should be securely contained so he cannot get to them. He is a man’s dog and prefers male adopters. He will also require a securely fenced-in area and secure home as he does not like to interact with people. His ideal home would be out in the country away from bustling city life. The world has been an uncertain place for him, and he needs a patient someone who does not mind taking the time to teach him to be brave. He is a semi-active fellow who loves to zoomie around the yard and enjoys long walks, however, if you leave him unattended too long digging holes that go nowhere is a fun and entertaining hobby. His lead handler at the kennels has had success in helping him trust some humans again, but he still needs extensive training as socialization is not his specialty. Oh, being a Border Collie herding objects and people with “nips” is fun! If you are one of his people, then you will love Huntley nibbles!

Further questions? Currently, emails are the only method of communication. We all care about the health of our 2-legged caregivers and the community at large, so as a precaution we are suspending our public open hours. We are still taking email inquiries, on-line applications, and will be in touch with you as soon as we are able. We appreciate everyone’s understanding during this difficult time! Stay Well!
