Capital Lakefair is diligently working on a modified version of this years’ summer event to safely open our festival. Specific enhanced measures to ensure the safely our volunteers, vendors and the community are being integrated as part of our planning process as new information is released by local, state and national officials. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there is a risk of exposure in any setting, just know we are working closely with all relevant authorities to make sure we have appropriate safety measures in place.
Capital Lakefair has been rooted in our community for generations and this will be our 63rd year in Olympia. Our 2020 theme is Reflections which represents our past, present, and future. While there is still much uncertainty with respect to the lasting impacts of COVID-19, the safety and well-being of our community remains our top priority. We are planning on moving forward with Lakefair Week at later date.
Originally scheduled for July 15-19, 2020, the event has been postponed to August 19-23, 2020 at Heritage Park in Olympia. This modification will put the event safely in Phase IV which includes a return to public interactions, all recreational activity and gatherings of more the 50 people with appropriate distancing and sanitary precautions.
Lakefair will look a bit different this year, as we are scaling back operations to provide adequate social distancing and suspending events which are not conducive to such measures. This year will include our arts & crafts vendors, the carnival, and potentially the grand finale fireworks on the last day of the festival.
The modified version of Lakefair will be for one year only, and we hope to see you again in 2021 for the return of our full festival.
