The Lacey Museum and the Olympia Genealogical Society are excited to announce their joint venture to make unique genealogical resources available to the South Sound community.
The two organizations have the common goal of maintaining and developing relevant historical resources for the public to research information on their families and local histories. “Although we have many wonderful online resources these days,” said Museum Curator Erin Quinn Valcho, “less than 5 percent of the genealogical resources are available online. Plus, many are behind a pay wall, which can make them inaccessible for some people.”
Researchers will now have access to the Olympia Genealogical Society’s collection of over 1,700 volumes at Lacey City Hall. “The Olympia Genealogical Society is pleased to have a new home for our book collection, which includes genealogy books from across the United States and around the world,” said Nancy Neville Cordell, Past President of the Olympia Genealogical Society.
