Bring the family out to Tumwater’s Independence Day celebrations on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Leave the fireworks to the professionals, and celebrate with a day full of excitement.

Begin the morning with a festive Fun Run through Tumwater Valley Golf Course. Later in the morning, join your friends and neighbors as the sidewalks streets fill with life at the Independence Day Parade. That evening, head to the Artesian Family Festival and remember to stay for Thunder Valley Fireworks Showthe biggest display in Thurston County!

Fairways & Fireworks Fore on the 4th Fun Run

8:00 a.m. check-in | Tumwater Valley Golf Course

Tumwater Valley Golf Course turns the cart paths and fairways into a 4-mile fun run in celebration of Independence Day. Proceeds from this event benefit golf programs for low-income youth in our community. Register online to participate in the Fun Run.

River’s Edge Restaurant will serve a special breakfast buffet following the run – $11.95 for adults; $6.95 for kids 12 & under.

Independence Day Parade

11:00 a.m. | Capitol Boulevard & Israel Road

The City of Tumwater continues its tradition of hosting a 4th of July parade for the 32nd year – the theme this year is “As We Live, We Grow: Celebrating 150 Years.” Arrive early to get a good viewing spot, and watch the pre-parade car show at 10:45 a.m.

The parade itself begins at 11:00 a.m. from the corner of Capitol Boulevard and Lee Street and moves south on Capitol Boulevard to Israel Road. The route then turns west (right) onto Israel Road, continues past Tumwater City Hall, ending at Linderson Way and Israel Road intersection.

Artesian Family Festival & Thunder Valley Fireworks Show

6:00 p.m. | Tumwater Valley Golf Course

The Artesian Family Festival & Thunder Valley Fireworks Show is the biggest and best fireworks festival in the County – and it happens in Tumwater every year on July 4th. On the Tumwater Valley Golf Course driving range, you’ll find music, food, games and a lot more waiting for you.

Event gates open at 6:00 p.m. The fireworks show begins at 10:15 p.m. Festival entry is FREE. Parking for the event is $10/car. Please keep in mind: Pets, alcohol/marijuana, and personal fireworks are prohibited at the festival.

Fireworks Regulations & Safety

A friendly reminder to residents and visitors celebrating Independence Day in Lacey, Olympia, and Tumwater – fireworks may not be sold, purchased, or discharged in our communities.

Novelty devices such as snakes, glow worms, and party poppers are allowed. Sparklers and all other types of fireworks including those purchased elsewhere may not be used in our cities.

If you have unused fireworks, please discard them safely:

  • Thoroughly soak fireworks overnight in a bucket or tub of water, then drain.
  • Place the soaked fireworks in a heavy duty trash bag, and tightly seal.
  • Place the bag in your garbage container for pick-up.
