Imagine what the holiday season would be like if you were also coping with a devastating cancer diagnosis, upcoming treatment or paying your bills while out of work. This is the situation faced by Thurston County families supported by The Mayday Foundation and we’re stepping in to help make the holidays brighter.

We believe no family should have to stress about holiday gift-giving, on top of worrying about cancer treatments.

The Mayday Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, provides immediate, practical support to local families when a parent is diagnosed with cancer and is raising kids at home. Launched this year, we have already supported 13 families, representing 25 local kids, with household expenses like gas, groceries, rent and utilities. Now we are adding an adopt-a-family component for the holiday season.

“I just can’t tell you how much The Mayday Foundation has given to us,” said one mother diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer. She works full-time, attends school to further her career and is raising two children with her husband. “The kindness you have shown has been absolutely incredible. I have tears in my eyes due to your generosity,” she said after learning about Holiday Healing and options for clothing and gifts for her children.

Unwrapped gifts should be ready by December 3.  Pick-up instructions will be sent in a separate email.

Prefer to skip the holiday shopping craziness?  Make an online donation and we’ll take care of it for you. An online donation is a great way to show support for Thurston County families facing cancer.  Plus, when polled, parents indicated that gas/grocery cards were their #1 need this holiday season. Using our online donation form, you can make sure Olympia families have a bright holiday season with plenty of food and a full gas tank.
