The National Weather Service has issued a series of alerts regarding rain and windstorms that will affect the Pacific Northwest, including Mason County through Thursday night.

Mason PUD 3 urges its customers to be prepared for any fall and winter storms. Tonight’s rainstorm includes gusty winds. However, it’s a second storm due on Thursday gives PUD 3 extra pause.

Here’s the information from the weather service’s high wind watch:

· Wind: south to southwest winds of 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 65 mph could develop, including the Puget Sound I-5 urban corridor. In the mountains, gusts to over 75 mph are possible; excluding the mountain passes which may remain somewhat sheltered.
· Impacts: winds this strong can topple large trees, especially given the saturated soils from recent rainfall. Power outages are likely to occur and may be widespread.

Here is the latest suite of weather links about two storms that are being tracked:

· High Wind Watch Late Wednesday Night through Thursday Evening
· Storm Watch for the Inland Waters of Hood Canal & Puget Sound
· Skokomish River Flood Watch
· Coastal Flood Warning
· Landslide Risk, Special Weather Statement
