During the week of March 3rd, Sophie Bustetter served as a page with the Washington State Senate in Olympia.
Bustetter was sponsored by Sen. Karen Fraser, D-Olympia. “Sophie is a very talented young woman and I was happy to have met her. I hope her week with the Senate was as educational as she hoped it would be,” Fraser said.
Bustetter thought that being a part of the page program was a good opportunity. She had seen people moving about the buildings on Capitol Campus her whole life and wanted to learn more about what those people were doing.
“You don’t get enough education in schools regarding state government, so paging is a good way to learn about it.”
Bustetter, 14, lives in Olympia where she is a freshman at Capital High School.
