Everyone loves a good deal, whether we are on a tight budget or just looking for a great bargain. Knowing that you’ve bought something at a great price can almost create a sense of euphoria – like a “runner’s high” for shopping. And when that great price is matched with terrific quality, superb service, and purchased from a local, family run business it’s a win-win for everyone.
Woodshed Furniture in Lacey is celebrating 40 years serving Thurston County residents. You can read more about the history of the store here. But what is exciting for owners Jed Hart and Trisha Claridge these days isn’t just the long legacy of excellent quality and service left to her by her parents. It’s the opening if the newest facet of the business – The Woodshed Furniture Outlet.
Located right next door to the current Woodshed Furniture location on Martin Way in Lacey, the new outlet store fills a 9,000-square-foot building previously occupied by a state agency. The Outlet opened on September 21 and the crew at Woodshed are adding more pieces to the space daily while working out the new challenges of running two large scale spaces.
The public response has been terrific – people are thrilled to have access to terrific, quality furniture at a discounted price point.
“In our main store, we focus on carrying the ‘better’ and ‘best’ quality furnishings,” shares Claridge. “We have always wanted to provide high quality pieces at good prices, but have stayed closer to the mid- to upper-price point, reflecting the craftsmanship in our furniture.” However, the need to provide a selection of discounted furnishings has been on their radar for years. When the adjacent space came open, they jumped at the opportunity.
“The Outlet carries some of the same lines from our main store,” shares Claridge. “But they may be discontinued items or overstocks that we can get at a lower price or items we have put on clearance.” With these items, you’ll find the same high quality as the Woodshed’s main showroom, but at a terrific discount.
In addition to these items, the store has also ordered in special pieces just for the Outlet. These items often come from the same manufacturers as the Woodshed’s main store, but are offered for purchase right off the floor, with no customization, as is common in the main showroom. By limiting the options on fabric or wood finish, the items simply cost less.
“We are seeing a lot of people shopping for Bonus Room furniture or bunk beds for their kids rooms,” explains Claridge. And the Outlet understands that you likely don’t want to spend a fortune for items that will be jumped, flopped, spilled, and possibly colored on. But they also know you still want sturdy, good quality things in your home. The Outlet delivers. With a wide selection of bunk bed styles and terrific sofas (many in mama’s favorite easy clean micro-fiber) it’s a great place to shop for the rooms of your home that might be a little more “loved.”
The Outlet is open the same hours as the main showroom, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. so if you stop in for a browse at Woodshed’s main store, swing across the parking lot and look through the Outlet. You never know what you might find. I found my perfect coffee table in the Outlet when I went to interview Trisha for this article (it had a sold sticker on it, but she’s getting another in soon). Go figure??
Woodshed Furniture Outlet includes the same financing options and delivery as the main store. You are getting the same excellent service that Woodshed has been offering customers for 40 years, but now with a wider range of price options, fitting every budget.
The thrill of the chase for a bargain is something I love, whether I am stalking online ads or checking special holiday sales at my favorite stores. Knowing that I can find a great deal any day of the week at the Woodshed Furniture Outlet takes a little of the adrenaline out of the process, but leaves all of the pleasure of a quality purchase at a terrific price.
