If you have some marshmallow Peeps® from last Easter in the back of the cupboard (fresh ones are OK too), they can earn you fame and fortune with the Olympia Timberland Library’s annual Peeps Diorama Contest. Your mission: to create a scene from one of your favorite books using those vividly colored confections that pop up each spring as the main characters.

Dioramas must be book, literature, or library inspired and will be judged for creativity, humor, workmanship, and visual appeal. Pick up an entry form and a brochure that has the complete rules, requirements, lists of the six prize categories, and several websites that offer ideas and inspiration. The form and brochure are available at all Olympia library information desks.

Dates, dates, dates

  • Dioramas and entry forms will be accepted at any staffed desk in the Olympia library between Saturday, March 16 and Saturday, March 23.
  • A “Peeple’s Choice” award will be determined using ballots submitted by library patrons between March 25 and 29.
  • Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Friday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to attend. There will be prizes for each category. Winners need not be present.
  • Dioramas will be on display for one month.

Olympia librarians say: “Don’t delay – grab a ‘peeps’ of the action!”

The Olympia Timberland Library is located at 313 8th Avenue SE. For more information, contact the library at (360) 352-0595 or go to www.TRL.org.
