BELLEVUE, Wash.– Today Puget Sound Energy begins recruiting for Re-Energized by Design, a new campaign in which six residential PSE customers will compete in a series of room-by-room energy-efficient makeover challenges. The entry deadline is Oct. 31, 2012.

“This is a brand-new concept for us at PSE,” said Cal Shirley, vice president of Customer Solutions. “Our customers are familiar with the energy and money-saving benefits of efficient products, and we want people to know that these products are now some of the most beautiful on the market – and they are eligible for PSE rebates. We’re excited to give our customers the tools to get creative in using efficiency as a complement to great design in their homes.”

Re-Energized by Design contestants will complete a series of room makeovers using the latest sleek and stylish energy-efficient products provided by PSE, GE, and Frigidaire. After each makeover challenge, a local celebrity judge panel will review and score each contestant’s effort. The lowest-scoring contestant in each round will be eliminated.

All contestants will receive free, efficient light emitting diode (LED) and compact fluorescent light (CFL) lighting from GE and a small stipend to spend on each room’s makeover. The final three contestants will win a high efficiency clothes washer and matching dryer from Frigidaire, and the final two contestants will win a Frigidaire Ultra Efficient Kitchen with refrigerator, dishwasher, range, and microwave. The last contestant standing will win a $5,000 prize.

Each contestant’s efforts will be supported by a dedicated design coach who will provide style guidance and encouragement. Contestants will also be filmed as they complete each room challenge, and PSE will release a series of “webisodes” showing the journey of each contestant as they make their homes more beautiful and energy efficient.

All home-owning PSE electric and natural gas customers living in an existing single-family property or attached housing with four units or less are eligible to become contestants. To enter, customers must create a short video introducing themselves and their home and upload it to the Re-Energized by Design website at PSE.com/ReEnergizedByDesign before the Oct. 31 entry deadline.
