Washington State Employees Credit Union (WSECU) is welcoming the community to reduce the risk of identity theft by getting rid of old tax returns, financial statements, and other personal papers at a free Shred & Share event in Olympia on July 28 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.  It will also be a community donation drive for the YWCA’s Other Bank.

Everyone is welcome to bring three boxes of documents – or up to approximately 150 pounds – for shredding during the event that will be held at WSECU’s downtown Olympia location.

Collecting personal hygiene items & household cleaning supplies for the YWCA Other Bank

The Shred & Share idea resulted from WSECU wanting both to provide a needed service to the public and help others in the community.  Attendees bringing documents for shredding are also asked to bring a donation of items like shampoo, toothpaste, and laundry soap which will be collected and donated to the YWCA.  The event is open to the general public regardless of WSECU membership and is free of charge.  Participants may enter to win a personal document shredder.  Gifts and refreshments will also be offered.

Dedicated to providing outstanding member service for 50 years, Washington State Employees Credit Union has more than $1.6 billion in assets, 165,000 members and 18 branches across Washington.  Membership is open to public employees and their family members.  Additional information can be found online.
