I’m feeling reflective and mellow as I write this post.  Perhaps its the dreary June weather or the ‘looking back’ nature of attending my husband’s high school reunion this weekend, but whatever the reason this week’s Editor’s Picks have a bent towards sharing thoughtful information.  I am thankful for the ThurstonTalk writers that continuously create excellent, educational articles.  So, brew a cup of tea and curl up to catch up on a few of our favorite posts from this week.

What’s Next For The Brewery

Quite frankly, I was blown away at the initial popularity of our interview with Michael Matthias.  Perhaps I should not have been so surprised since the old brewery building is such an iconic part of our landscape.  Matthias has a daunting job but seems quite ready for the challenge.  Read more about Matthias’s balancing act of redevelopment.

Randy’s Compounding Pharmacy – Creating Custom Medications In Olympia

Before this article, I did not know what made a compounding pharmacy unique.  Now, I am impressed with Brad Livingstone’s, Registered Pharmacist, immense knowledge of the human body and skills to create individualized medications to suit each person.  Review the article and learn more about Livingstone’s approach to caring for his clients.

Spoon Berry Strawberry Hut Opens At Ralph’s Thriftway

One of my favorite summertime activities is to can strawberry jam.  Two friends and I plan for weeks.  The most detailed person in our three-some is in charge of tracking proportions and doles out assignments for buying the supplies.  She tracks how much yield we produced the year before.  The other friend does an excellent job manning each ‘station’ during the cooking process.  Me… I’m in charge of topping the strawberries.  Certainly an important job but not critical to the operation.  Perhaps it’s their (kind) way of telling me that my attention to detail in precise cooking processes is limited.   Regardless, we’ll be washing, slicing, stirring, and scooping delicious strawberry jam today.  And, we only use Spooner berries.  Yum!

Until next week…
