The Lacey City Council has decided to interview all 11 candidates to fill the vacant Lacey City Council seat.  It had been considering narrowing the list of candidates and interviewing only them, but with the return of Cynthia Pratt from an African trip, the tide shifted.   Councilmember Andy Ryder said the issue is one of transparency and fairness.   The 11 will be interviewed on February 3.

LOTT is about to embark on a $48 million project to refurbish or replace part of its downtown Olympia sewage plant.  The  sediment tanks were built in the 1950’s and need to be redone.    It’s the last part of the original plant still not modernized.  The cost to sewer rate payers is about $1.50 per month.

When the new Olympia City Hall opens in March, members of the Olympia Police Department won’t have to worry about parking.  While other city employees will have to scramble for parking spots and pay for parking, police department employees will have free parking directly behind city hall.  It’s in their union contract.
