The new choral group, Women of Note, created specifically for women singers in the greater South Puget Sound area, will present “Journey Home…A Woman’s Life” on Saturday, June 27 at 3 p.m. at the Belfair Assembly of God Church,  and on Sunday, June 28 at 3 p.m. at the Shelton High School Performing Arts Center.

Journey Home has music of many genres from many famous composers depicting the life of a woman with songs of childhood, adolescence, love denied and delighted, marriage, aging and death, with a finale of Elton John’s Circle of Life. There is music from as far away as Slovakia, Hungary and South America that spices the concert beautifully, and music as funny as Steven Porter’s The Mouse Madrigal (a spoof on Three Blind Mice) from the childhood section and as serious as Ola Gjeilo’s stunningly beautiful Ubi. The concert opens with a pair of lullabies and ends with jubilant spirituals and revivalist songs before the finale. The listener will experience a variety of different scenes and emotional states throughout the concert.  A free-will donation is appreciated.
