The South Puget Sound New Horizons Band will present its annual free Veteran’s concert at 10:00 AM on November 7, 2018. The concert will be held at the Land Yacht Harbor Harmony Hall, 9101 Steilacoom Rd SE, Olympia, WA.
The New Horizons International Music Association (NHIMA) is a worldwide organization comprised of over 200 New Horizons groups whose 9,000 members are over the age of 50. Some members have returned to music after a long hiatus, some are beginning musicians, and some are active amateurs or retired music educators.
Our local New Horizons Band was formed in Tacoma, WA, in 1999 with 13 musicians and director, Vic Jowders. It has grown to include over 70 members who rehearse weekly in Olympia under the direction of Vic Jowders.
With this free concert, the band pays tribute to the dedication and contribution of all of America’s veterans. Selections will include arrangements of traditional military anthems, marches, and inspirational folk melodies. Veterans will be recognized during the playing of Armed Forces Salute.
