Thurston County Public Budget Hearing

The county’s overall preliminary budget for 2015 is $294 million, which includes $88 million for the proposed General Fund spending level.  County offices and departments for several months have been working on a spending plan for next year that is frozen at 2014 levels. Elected leaders and department directors have to absorb the increases in medical benefit costs, salary increases, and other inflationary costs as part of this budget.

The public hearing follows a September budget presentation that was open to the public and several open meetings where County Commissioners discussed the spending plan. Commissioners are scheduled to adopt the 2015 budget on October 9.
