Talk: World War I Homefront in Thurston County

Local historian, Jennifer Crooks will speak about a part of history that is not often discussed—World War I and its impact on Thurston County. Brought to the community by Olympia Tumwater Foundation’s Heritage Builders program.

The First World War had a considerable impact both nationally and in Thurston County. Crooks’ illustrated presentation will highlight how our residents reacted to those times, how the construction of Camp Lewis affected our local culture, and how women made many gains during that time.
