ournalist and comic book historian T. Andrew Wahl will give an interactive, multimedia presentation on the evolution of comic book characters at the Tumwater Timberland Library, Tuesday, July 21 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Since the debut of Superman in 1938, the American superhero has been a regular part of the pop culture landscape. In this presentation, Wahl will explore how historical events and shifting social mores can be seen in the development of characters from Wonder Woman to Spider-Man. Using audience members’ memories as a springboard, Wahl will discuss how superheroes and villains arise from and illuminate their historical context.
